“The Poet and the Painter” is a new short documentary film about poet Des Walsh and painter Alan Stein, by director Barbara Doran and filmmaker Jerry McIntosh.
This 2022 documentary chronicles the relationship between Alan and Des, their love of New and Old Bonaventures, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and the story behind their collaboration in the recent hand printed, limited edition book “We Are The Songs of Weather”, 18 selected poems by Des Walsh with 20 wood engravings by Alan Stein.
The film covers some aspects of hand printing and wood engraving, along with the opening of the exhibit of related charcoals, pastels and prints at the English Harbour Arts Centre.
Shown publicly for the first time in August 2022 at Writers at Woody Point.
