This past winter and into this spring I have been working on a new series of Newfoundland pastels. Based on my on-site sketches made in many small harbours and coastlines around Trinity Bay on the Bonavista peninsula. This work will be part of a larger project and exhibitions as I work towards creating and illustrating a new hand printed book of poems by Newfoundland poet Des Walsh.

ALAN STEIN
A Canadian Artist

I am a painter and a printmaker, working primarily with pastel on paper and oil on linen.

I established the Church Street Press in 1998 where I  hand print limited edition books, with my own illustrations in wood engraving or stone lithography.

Much of my work has been influenced by summers spent on Georgian Bay, my home in Newfoundland and my travels.
